1.
What should I bring?
Please bring an open mind and an empty stomach. Try not to eat for at least
an hour before practice. Classes at HYP will have mats for you to use, if you
don't have your own. For private lessons, please let me know if you need a mat.
I will provide all other props!
2. What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in easily: leggings, shorts, comfortable
tops. You may want to bring a sweatshirt or other warm top, too.
3. What if I'm running late, or have to leave early?
Please do your best to make it to class on time. It disturbs the other students
when people arrive late, but more importantly, you lose the benefits of a full
session. If you arrive late, please enter quietly and do not disturb the other
students. If you need to leave early, please make sure you end your practice
with a calming few minutes in Savasana, the Relaxation Pose.
4. I have an injury. Can I still practice?
It depends on the type, recency, and severity of the injury. Please let me know
before class starts and we'll determine the best plan for your practice.
5. I'm pregnant. Can I still practice?
You can practice modified versions of most poses. However, you may also want
to take a prenatal yoga class, specifically geared toward the changes your body
is going through. Let me know before class and we'll determine the best plan
for your practice.
6. I'm not very flexible... I'm not good at yoga... I can't do yoga...
Etc.!
Believe it or not, yoga is for everyone! Working with props and modified positions,
you CAN do yoga no matter how flexible you are(n't). In fact, yoga will help
make you more flexible. Give it a try. We all start somewhere, and we all have
our "on" or "off" days, so remember to treat yourself kindly.
Just showing up on your mat is the most important step you can take. Welcome,
and Namasté.
